Alone- Maya Angelou (1975)

LYING, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

"Alone" can be found in Dr. Angelou 's Book "Oh Pray My Wings Are Gonna Fit Me Well" which was published by Random House in 1975 (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120426163832AAWnOKk)

This Be the Verse (April 1971)

This Be the Verse

                                                                                        BY PHILIP LARKIN
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

Newspaper Blackout- Austin Kleon

Creativity is subtraction.

Austin Kleon creates art by blacking out the unnecessary bits. I can't wait to get my hands on the book. Great Stuff.
